A biology degree with an option in pre-medicine or pre-dentistry provides an excellent foundation to help you gain admission to competitive medical schools. Our rigorous core and upper-division pre-medicine courses meet the prerequisites for most accredited medical schools while providing you with the knowledge and skills to seek careers in varied health-related fields such as pharmacy, physician assistant and others.

Numerous research, internships and other hands-on learning opportunities enhance pre-med and pre-health students' preparation for health professional programs. Students are exposed to a broad range of introductory and advanced courses in biomedical ethics, social sciences, disease and health, in addition to opportunities to do experiential learning ranging from health internships abroad to laboratory research.

The College of Science has outstanding opportunities for pre-medical students, with OSU graduates placing at medical schools across the country. Generally, about 60-70% of our applicants are admitted to medical school compared to 33-40% nationally.

Our pre-meds turn their passion into practice.
