Integrative Biology PhD candidates Will Fennie, Heather Fulton-Bennett and Kelsey Swieca each received a Mamie L. Markham Research Award, administered by Hatfield Marine Science Center. These monetary awards will help the students advance their research. Their faculty mentors are Su Sponaugle (Fennie and Swieca) and Bruce Menge and Jane Lubchenco (Fulton-Bennett). 

Their projects are:

Will Fennie -- Early life history of rockfishes found off the Oregon coast

Heather Fulton-Bennett -- How does ocean acidification affect crustose coralline algae (CCA) and their associated communities?

Kelsey Swieca -- The influence of regional oceanography on larval fish diet, growth, and ultimately survival
