Abstract

Howardula neocosmis sp. n. (Tylenchida: Allantonematidae) is described as a parasite of Drosophila acutilabella Stalker (Diptera: Drosophilidae) from Florida, USA and D. suboccidentalis Spencer from British Columbia, Canada. These two strains represent the first described Howardula from North American drosophilids. Notes on the biology of the parasite and a list to the species of Howardula Cobb are presented.
